ISEF-Affiliated Science Fairs in Washington State
The Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF) is the world's largest pre-college science competition, with nearly $4 million in awards and scholarships. To compete at ISEF, high school students in Washington State must win first or second place at one of the following ISEF-affiliated fairs:

- Open to all students in Washington State, grades 1-12. Held in Bremerton, Washington, late March or early April each year.

- Open to students from Pierce and Thurston counties, grades K-12. Held in Tacoma, Washington, every March. Students from this region must participate before going to WSSEF.

- Open to students from the Mid-Columbia Region of Washington and Northeastern Oregon, grades 6-12. Held in Kennewick, Washington, every March. Students from this region must participate before going to WSSEF.

Independent Science Fairs in Washington State
These science fairs in Washington State are not affiliated with any national or international competition:

- Hosted by the Northwest Association for Biomedical Research. Open to grades 9-12. Held in Bellevue, Washington.

- A clean energy competition, open to teams of 2-5 students, grades 9-12. Held in Pullman, Washington, every May.
|
- Open to homeschooled students in Washington State, grades K-12. Held in Renton, Washington (tentative).

- Open to students in participating Seattle public schools, grades 5-8. Held in Seattle every June.
